The Bound Edge Flipped Collar Shirt was an experimental tangent on the way to developing the 468 Flipped Collar Shirt. Like the 468, the front placket is reversed and sewn down on the outside, trapping two large centre pockets low down at a comfortable hand height and the collar is flipped upside down so that the long side, not the short side, is sewn into the neck of the shirt. Here, however, the entire edge of the shirt, including the entire collar, is bound in a continuous sweep of ecru cotton bias binding. The idea was to follow earlier bound edge shirts to their logical conclusion, and in the process evoke traditional pyjama jacket construction, with white piping around a blue body and white linen covered metal buttons. This contrast is rendered more or less subtle by the garment dyeing after the shirt is finished.
