Working with Jason Jägel Moonlight Print Long Sleeve Tshirt

Screen printed and home dyed tee in organic cotton. The first screen, for the background of the face, was used uncoated or exposed, and the shape was pushed through it by hand on the printing table. The second very large screen, Jason’s painting, was then printed over the top of the background colour, and the neck and shoulders of the garment.

Finally the garments were dyed at home, using powdered dyes scattered across the damp fabric, forming subtle, painterly spots and marks across the garment.

Jason Jägel is a painter, educator, and commissioned public artist based in San Francisco. His work uses the syntax of comics to conjure fictional worlds where anything can happen at anytime, like everyday life. His work is in many public collections including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
