DOUBLE FACE JACOB MELTON – TENDER Co. STORES

DOUBLE FACE JACOB MELTON

Melton fabrics are named for the Leicestershire town of Melton Mowbray (also famous for pork pies) and are densely woven woollen plain cloths intended for outerwear.

The Double Face Jacob Melton, actually woven in Yorkshire, consists of two distinct melton cloths woven together, with speckled navy and midnight blues on one side, and natural undyed Jacob sheep’s wool on the other.

Similar in weight to duffel fabric (named from the Belgian town where it originated) but fully double faced, this cloth can be used either way out. Ambler coats are made up in two options, with either blue or brown outside, and are cut with half linings so that the back side of the cloth can be seen inside the coat.
